Marcel Wanders unveiled his new furniture design for HC28 maison at the 56th China International Furniture Fair (CIFF) in Shanghai. Where global design icons meet Chinese design excellence, HC28 maison presented its new exhibition, The Mirror of Emotion.

The LADY AMHERST lounger designed by Marcel Wanders embodies warmth, surprise and enduring beauty. For Marcel, surprise is the essence of adventure, and his collaboration with HC28 maison reflects this spirit with design creations infused with imagination, tension and the courage to challenge conventions.

The LADY AMHERST lounger takes inspiration from its namesake pheasant, a bird native to China known for vivid plumage and graceful presence. Sculptural curves, layered details and rich textures capture the bird’s natural elegance, transforming its beauty into a piece of refined furniture. Like the pheasant with its flowing tail and intricate patterns, the lounger combines artistry with craftsmanship. Its sculptural silhouette evokes feathers in motion, while luxurious upholstery conveys depth and vibrancy. With bases ranging from solid marble to sleek cabinetry, the design offers a choice between grounded weight and light elevation. Resting as if perched on a branch, the lounger expresses both quiet poise and dynamic energy. Its ability to swivel adds a touch of movement, echoing the subtle grace of the bird in the wild.
