Marcel Wanders’ first extensive European retrospective laid bare his creative soul to over 240,000 visitors at the exhibit ‘Marcel Wanders: Pinned Up at the Stedelijk – 25 Years of Design’ (2014). In this museum context over 400 objects encompassing furniture, lighting, wallpaper, cutlery, jewellery, packaging, interior design, prototypes, original sketches and virtual interiors were shown. Visitors explored Marcel Wanders’ creativity in three separate parts; a white zone of analysis studying the themes of his work, a black zone, presenting more personal and experimental work in a theatrical setting, and an art direction lounge, exploring Marcel Wanders’ role as Art Director for design brands, including MOOOI.
