One Minute Delft Black is an exclusive collection of twelve unique vases created by Marcel Wanders for PINTO, at the invitation of Fahad Hariri, and crafted by Royal Delft, the historic Dutch ceramic manufactory founded in 1653. First conceived in 2006, Marcel Wanders’ One Minute Delft project reimagines the centuries old tradition of Delftware through a spontaneous, one minute painting process. In this new chapter, the iconic blue gives way to black, creating a striking contrast against the white ceramic surface. Marcel Wanders paints directly onto the earthenware, without sketches or corrections, allowing instinct and movement to guide his hand. The resulting compositions capture the energy of a fleeting moment, bringing together expressive freedom and the discipline of traditional craftsmanship. Made from high fired earthenware, the vases are decorated with black ceramic pigments and finished through multiple kiln firings, with Royal Delft’s artisanal expertise ensuring the permanence and quality of the decoration. The collection reflects Marcel Wanders’ enduring commitment to bringing emotion, imagination and humanity into design, balancing tradition with experimentation and precision with spontaneity. Through PINTO’s vision of the decorative arts, One Minute Delft Black brings Dutch ceramic heritage into a contemporary context, resulting in twelve signed originals that bear the unmistakable trace of Marcel Wanders’ hand.
