To honor the 90th anniversary of one of the most iconic figures of our generation, Mickey Mouse, Marcel Wanders presents the One Minute Mickey. Handcrafted on a life-size scale by the French Workshop Leblon Delienne, this playful sculpture is painted in Marcel Wanders’ world-renowned signature One Minute Delft Blue style. With this color palette, Marcel creates a new way to experience the cartoon character who has brought happiness to millions around the globe. The delft blue style perfectly accentuates all of Mickey’s familiar shapes, from his famous ears to his button nose and oversized shoes. With this piece, Marcel shows how he brings the romanticism of past ages into the contemporary moment.
In collaboration with Leblon Delienne, Marcel Wanders brings a third piece to life September 6th, during Maison&Objet in Paris. Adding to the collection of iconic figures that includes the ‘One Minute Mickey’ and ‘Mickey Mouse, Cloche À Fromage’ (2018) is the ‘One Minute Minnie’. In the same way that he crafted the ‘One Minute Mickey, Marcel Wanders paints Minnie Mouse in an expressionist way with his bare hands. By associating Dutch heritage with the legendary figure of Minnie Mouse, Marcel Wanders adds to the exceptional savoir-faire of the Leblon Delienne atelier, subtly mixing universes and eras to create a timeless work. For the final touch, Marcel Wanders created Minnie Mouse’s nose in a chrome gold finish, bringing a touch of refinement and a wink of humour.
Marcel Wanders launches Sitting Mickey with Leblon Delienne
Together with Leblon Delienne, Marcel Wanders launches the Sitting Mickey. After the success of the One Minute Mickey, One Minute Minnie, and Mickey’s Cheese Platter, the legendary icon has been reimagined and is now available sitting and in different finishes. Set in a relaxed position, the handcrafted resin figurine that measures 12 cm/ 4,7 inches sits leaning back, with his legs out, supported by his hands on the ground behind him.
This new contemporary version of the character that has been beloved worldwide for nearly a century is now available in four coloured finishes, including chromed gold, chromed silver, glossy red and matt white. For those who love Mickey Mouse and those who appreciate unique, handcrafted design, this new offering presents a delightful insight into Marcel Wanders’ imagination. With this piece, Marcel Wanders shows how it brings the romanticism of past ages into the contemporary moment.
